Supply list

 

PAINTS:  artist-grade paint is the best, but a high quality student-grade oil paint like Gamblin Sketching is fine. The difference is pigment density and refinement.

 

Hansa yellow medium

Yellow ochre

Ultramarine blue

Phthalo blue

Alizarin crimson

Permanent red deep or cadmium red deep or medium

Dioxine purple or carbozole violet, or manganese violet

Burnt umber, or raw umber violet

Burnt sienna

Titanium white (high coverage white)

(ivory) black

optional: paynes gray, magenta, maroon, (burnt) orange, phthalo green

 

BRUSHES: Economy synthetic hair brushes, they come in sets sometimes (Valu-pak 9056, 9055, etc) or choose round #6,  filbert #4, #6, or  #8,  and a flat #10

 

GESSOBORDS:  (1)  5x8 (apprx) and  (2)  9x12 “gessobords” to start, and then we will add later when we discuss sizes etc. Gessobords are smooth pre-primed hardboard panels.

 

MEDIUMS: alkyd medium (“Galkyd or Galkyd lite); and odorless mineral spirits.

 

MISC.:

Sketch pad  9x12

Drawing pencil 4B

Pallet knife---angled, plastic

Adjustable plastic viewfinder, (or make your own)

Disposable vinyl gloves

Pallet: disposable paper pallets, or any non-porous, white flat surface min. 9x12

2  glass jars with screw lids

cotton rags and paper towels
